About
Not Sox started with a slightly odd passion for feet, but let me explain further.
Hi, I'm Paul and I started Not Sox from scratch with the help of my family and friends. I used to be an International athlete, I was good, but never great. Throughout my career I was always limited by injury. My biggest struggle was an achilles tendon injury that I struggled with for nearly 8 years.
This limitation started me on a mission to learn everything I could about biomechanics, and especially about feet. This led me to bare foot shoes, and finally toe socks. I tried every toe sock on the market, and none were quite what I wanted. I found them too thin, and would wear out quickly, particularly on the big toe. They had wild designs and huge amounts of branding. I’m just not sure why my socks need to say who made them, all over.
I wanted a classic sports sock, robust enough to handle the toughest gym sessions with a classic, minimalist styling. The only solution was to make them myself. I hope you enjoy the level of thought, care and design that has gone into Not Sox.
Design Principles
The first principles approach we take to design can be summarised in our 3Fs:
Fit, Fabric, Function
- How does the body function, what are the biomechanics.
- How do we make it fit, not an average person, but you.
- What is the best fabric or fibre for the job.
This is the approach we take to every Not Sox product. This is why our socks have toes, and this is why they are the most best gym sock on the market.
